Your gift to the School of Nursing directly transforms student lives and strengthens the future of healthcare. As demand for highly prepared nurses continues to grow, so do the needs within our programs—ranging from advanced simulation technology to student support resources and scholarships. The following priorities represent strategic opportunities where your investment will have immediate and lasting impact on student success and workforce readiness.

1. Sim Mom, our high-fidelity maternity simulator, has played a vital role in preparing nursing students to safely manage obstetric emergencies such as preeclampsia and postpartum hemorrhage. Since 2019, she has been used multiple times each week to ensure graduates are confident and clinically prepared before caring for real mothers and newborns.

After years of dedicated service, advancing technology has surpassed her capabilities. To continue delivering cutting-edge simulation education, we are ready to enter a new era with MamaAnne—a next-generation simulator that provides more realistic responses, enhanced scenario variability, and improved training outcomes.

Your investment in a new maternity simulator directly supports student competence, patient safety, and excellence in maternal-child nursing education. This is an opportunity to place state-of-the-art technology in the hands of future nurses who will care for families in their most critical moments.

2. The Scrub Closet is a new initiative designed to remove financial barriers by providing gently used nursing uniforms for students in need. Access to required clinical attire is essential for participation in hands-on training, and this effort ensures students can meet program expectations with dignity and confidence.

Looking ahead, we plan to broaden the initiative to include professional clothing for interviews and other career-related engagements, supporting students as they transition from the classroom to the workforce. Donor support will also allow us to purchase additional scrubs and professional attire to sustain and grow this resource—ensuring that financial hardship never prevents clinical participation or professional advancement.

3. Nursing Student Assistance Fund is an emergency fund to help students achieve their degrees when times get tough, such as personal emergencies or NCLEX preparation costs, to help students who are financially unprepared for such situations.

4. Undesignated Funds provides flexibility to support critical School of Nursing priorities, emerging needs, and student success initiatives as circumstances arise.

5. WHSON Scholarships offer flexible financial support for undergraduate and graduate nursing students. These funds help ensure that nursing students can continue progressing toward their degrees and professional goals.

A gift to WHSON Scholarships is a direct investment in future nurses, stronger healthcare systems, and healthier communities.
