The College of Arts and Sciences is proud of its well-rounded graduates. The College offers students an in-depth understanding of their studies beyond the traditional textbook and lecture allowing them to experience learning in a hands-on, real-world fashion. A large component of these efforts includes supporting graduate and undergraduate travel, both domestic and international.
Students are eager to participate. We are receiving more requests to support travel than ever before. Unfortunately, our travel funds have borne the brunt of budget cuts and are quite limited. Your support has the potential to re-establish and open new opportunities.
Domestic and international trips allow students to present research at national and international conferences, network with professionals in the same field of study, work in nationally renowned laboratories and facilities, conduct on-site observations, collect or observe specimens in their natural habitat, and visit sites of historical importance.
When completing their senior exit interviews, students who have participated in domestic or international travel consistently rate such among the best and most impactful of their college experiences. Your gift has the potential to change students’ world perspective, expand their professional relationships, and perhaps even lead to a career never imagined.
On behalf of the College of Arts and Sciences’ faculty, staff, and especially our students, thank you very much for supporting these efforts.
